End of Semester Announcements.

Announcements by our beloved Pres JP! :DD

28 May 2010 - Grading!
Master Lily and Master Tong (WTPA President) will be on hand to conduct gradings focused around the Intermediate Long Fist form that we have been learning this semester. The cost is only $10 and you get a sash, certificate, and get to feel even more awesome! If you can't do the grading (and you'd better have a good excuse not to be doing it) then come along and support your fellow club mates!

28 May 2010 - Post Training Dinner
After the grading and training, we'll be celebrating the end of semester with dinner at Alasya Turkish Restaurant (555 Sydney Road) with lots of good food. Jacky will be sending an email in the near future with more details, but I hope you can all make it!

9-11 July 2010 - Camp is on!
So far we have filled 15 of the 25 spaces! It's going to be awesome with hard training, beaches (though slightly cold) and fun times all round! It's only $70 including accommodation and food so shoot us an email and we'll put your name down. RSVP by next Friday at the latest so that everything can be booked!

11 July 2010 - Round 3 of the Australian Martial Arts Championships!
CS Yap competed in Round 2 and we have a few more people (Henry, Sonny and David) competing in the third round! Applications are still open, so if you think you're up for it, then sign up here! Everyone should come and support, especially as it is going to be held in our usual training venue (East Stadium, Sports Center) so it's nice and easy to get to. For those of you coming from camp, I'm sure it can be arranged to leave a little early in order to watch the fights which, if last round was anything to go by, will start at around noon.

29 August 2010 - The big Wushu comp! WTPA is onnnnn!
I had so much fun with this last year that I think you should all try this out. We're hoping for a bigger turnout this year than last (look at the photos - this means that pretty much everyone has to come) with more competitors. There's a large number of categories, ranging from beginner divisions, to advanced divisions, with freehand forms, weapons forms and Taichi forms! You'll even get to see some of the masters perform, and yes, that potentially includes Master Lily as well. Keep this in the back of your minds and train hard! I'll pass on registration details as soon as I find them.

Holiday Training
Training still runs all the way through Swotvac, exams and holidays. Obviously, you need a break from all the studying and to burn off all the chocolate and chips that are being used as brain fuel (well, at least that's my excuse) so come down for holiday training. Times will be running as usual (except perhaps Thursdays - they're to be confirmed) and best of all, they're free!

Uniforms
It's been great this semester seeing most people in club t-shirt and suitable pants and shoes during training, but let's make it everyone next semester okay? I mean, it's not like you want to get your nice t-shirts stained with all the sweat you've worked up, but it's a badge of honour on your club shirt. And there's always Jacky's threat that if you don't have one, then he'll lend you his sweat stained, slightly yellow one. They're not expensive, and you can get them anytime, just ask a committee member.

Okay, I think that's all from me for now.

Have fun and stay cool, lotsa love!

Jp

EDIT - Just a little one:

Hoodies
Yes, we have club hoodies! They're the darker grey ones that you've seen on some of the seniors. I've been waiting to put an order in and if we can get one in before the end of semester, fingers crossed that they might arrive in time for camp. They're $65 each, with a full zip and come in small, medium or large. We've actually got a few up in the locker (medium and large sizes only) so if you want to pick one up straightaway, just come and speak to a committee member. If you want to put an order in, then just email back or once again, just talk to a committee member.

Camp-tastic!

Hey everybody!

This is a heads up about the Wushu and Taichi camp the club is holding later this year. At a recent committee meeting, it was decided that we will be going to Dromana, which is a beach-side suburb located in Southern Victoria. Access is easiest by car; Dromana is around an hour's drive from Melbourne. However, there is also the option of taking the train and then a bus. We will be staying at a beach house which houses approx. 25 people and cooking/catering for ourselves.

Location: Dromana (Mornington Perninsula)
Date: 9 - 11 July (during the mid-year break)
Cost: $70 per person

For the uninitiated, MUTW camp is one of the biggest social events the club holds every year, the perfect chance for you to relax, train and get to know your team-mates. Since we need to start making the necessary arrangements quite soon, please RSVP within the next week if you would like to come. I'd urge everyone to consider their attendance carefully since there are only 25 or so places available. If you have any questions, feel free to approach a committee member during training or email us.

Hope to see you there!
